New Flu Virus DiscoveredFRIDAY- There has been a small outbreak of a new disease on the outskirts of Pyongyang, North Korea.  Reports as to the nature of this outbreak have been surprisingly sketchy, though victims are said to suffer from flu-like symptoms before lapsing into a coma. The death toll, however, is unusually high for the spread of a new flu. After recent scares with the Asian "Bird Flu," the scientific community is on guard against the possibility of a new epidemic. An anonymous American viral researcher was quoted as saying "New strains of the flu virus aren't terribly uncommon...This is really nothing to worry about." That is how my story begins.   
There was a boy, and the world abandoned him.   
My name is James Fielding, and I am that boy. I am fifteen years old. I do not know what happened to the rest of the world on the night of February 8, 2006, and I will not take guesses. The only story I can tell is my own. The rest you must imagine or discover for yourself.   
The world ended on a Monday, which only seemed fitting. I went to bed Sunday night at my usual time, which was about two in the morning. I woke up the next day at noon, which meant that my alarm clock h The Vanishing- Part 1

Urban Dead- Chapter 2Private Connor Vance was screwed. He raised his military M16 and fired at a rotting woman who had gotten too close. Her face disappeared in a spray of grey flesh and congealed blood, and she crumpled to the pavement. Two dozen or so undead behind her moaned hungrily, gaining distance. They weren't far now. Switching quichly back to full auto, Connor opened fire at the stumbling mob, aiming for their knees. His bullets tore through decaying flesh and bone, knees exploded, legs collapsed. The five or six zombies at the head of the group fell. Some got back. The rest began crawling, dragging their cippled bodies towards him.

STORY TIME!

Well, anyway, today I logged on ti find I had a new friend request. Nothing new there, I opened it up, expecting to see one of my friends from school or something.

Nope.

It was Steve Niles.

The author.

Who writes the Cal Mcdonald books.

Who wrote the 30 Days of Night graphic novels.

And the Dawn of the Dead graphic novel.

And the I am Legend graphic novel.

And Remains.

The same Steve Niles listed up there on my Favorite Authors thingummywut.

I don't think it's in the screenplay since the one I have up is not the final draft, but the character, Jacob, from Living Death? His last name was Niles. King of the subtle reference, that's me. (And, by the way, I did NOT name those characters Quentin and Grady. That was all the people I shot the movie with. I swear.)

Steve-fucking-Niles send me a friend request.

I feel honored.

And hey, speaking of cell phones and people named Steve, Cell by Stephen King came out today. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to pick it up, but I'll get it tomorrow. (GET IT! CELL? PICK IT UP? Goddamn, I'm funny)

And since I haven't been very up-to-date on my Urban Dead, I'm going to type up chapter 3 right now.

Oh, when you're done reading it, go out and buy a Steve Niles book.

Like "Savage Membrane" or "Dial M for Monster"

I still haven't read "Guns, Drugs and Monsters", much to my chagrin, but I've just ordered it off Amazon and it will be here shortly.
